The Meadows Festival is still taking applications for stallholders to trade at the long-running event, this year to be held on the 2nd & 3rd June. Interest has been high, but we still have spaces remaining. From arts and crafts, through vintage clothing and antiques, to books, charities, and children's items, the Festival attracts a broad range of different traders. If you're interested in taking a stall, head over to the stalls page and download a copy of the stalls form - apply by Monday to get a mention in the Festival Programme!
We've got an exciting line-up planned, but we need some help to make it happen - from you? Head to the Volunteers page if you can give a couple of hours over the weekend to make the Festival run smoothly - we are entirely volunteer run! |

2nd & 3rd June 2012!
West Meadow Park, Edinburgh
As in previous years:- Live music and dance, a plethora of stalls including arts & crafts, Taylors Fun Fair, local primary school football competition, food, dog show & chipping, local associations and international good causes, fun and people sitting on the grass if the sun shines. The Meadows Festival Association needs some more volunteers to help with the event. We cannot guarantee the participation of other organisations as some attractions are weather sensitive. |

On behalf of the Meadows Festival Association I would like to welcome to the Meadows. Since 1974 this has been the community festival for southern Edinburgh - and I hope you have a great time. This year we have a record number of stalls, fantastic line-ups for the Festival Stage, Forrest Stage and Performance Area, lots to do at the Kids Tent and of course Taylor's Funfair. On the Saturday our local primary schools compete for the Douglas Love and Taylor Cups in the School Football Competition and your dog can shine in the Dog Trust Dog Show. There is something for everyone as we celebrate all that is best in our community. The Festival is run by the Meadow Festival Association. We come together each year to fundraise for, plan and then run the Festival. If you would like to get involved next year please come to the Information Tent to find out more. The Festival costs well over £20,000 to put on and we would not be able to run such a great event without the support of many wonderful organisations and people. Particular praise must be singled out to Viridor Waste Management who have not only stepped forward again to run the litter picking and waste management, but have also made a significant financial contribution which was vital to ensuring that the Festival went ahead. I would also like to thank the South Central Neighbourhood Partnership whose grant is so important to the funding of the festival, ESPC for sponsoring the programme and Red Nose Day Community Cash programme for supporting the new Performance Area. |

The first week in June is National Microchipping Week, and the Meadows Festival and Dogs Trust will be offering a free microchip to dog owners attending the festival's family dog show. To get your free chip, come to the Meadows in Edinburgh between 11.00am and 16.00pm on Saturday 4th June, and join in the fun.
Jack Johnstone of the Dogs Trust said, "We were originally going to charge £5 for the service, which usually costs between £25-£35, but we decided as it's part of a national campaign to encourage responsible ownership, and to help people be reunited with lost pets, we decided to do it for free. We're also offering free advice on canine health, and tips on care and training. And we hope people will stay to enter their best friends in the novelty classes and challenges we're running throughout the day." |
